I had the pleasure of meeting Bee Andrade while she was preparing for an NPC Bikini competition. She is the true definition of an athlete. Besides having an excellent physique, drive, determination, and discipline she has a heart of gold!
Eddie: Hello Bee, It is great to have you on Muscle-4Life-Nutrition.com. Tell us what sparked your interest to fitness and made you want to become an NPC Bikini competitor?
Bee: Thank you for having me. Well, I’ve always been active as long as I can remember. Fitness became a serious part of my life when I looked at myself in the mirror one day and I was unhappy with what I saw so I started to make changes in my diet and my lifestyle. I competed in 2007 before “Bikini”. Then, it was only “figure”. I was excited when they added bikini because my body is curvy and can't really put on a lot of muscle.
Eddie: You made a good choice living the healthy life style.. Can you share your stats with us?
Bee: I’m, 34,27,37. Competition weight is 123. Off season 130-135
Eddie: Where are you originally from? Where do you reside and train at currently?
Bee: I was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley. I reside in Sunland and train at Worlds Gym.
Eddie: You have such an exotic look, if you don't mind me asking, what is your ethnicity?
Bee: Thank you. My parents are both Mexican of Portuguese and Native American descent.
Eddie: Thank your parents, they did a great job, you are a beautiful lady. Can you give us a peek into your daily workouts?
Bee: Come Competition I do 2 sessions of 45 min- 1 hr cardio, I train at least 2 muscle groups per day hitting every muscle group by end of week. My legs I do 2-3 times per week. To see updates of my workout in detail go to my bodyspace:
Eddie: What does your NPC Bikini competition history look like?
Bee: I have done the Excalibur 2009. I placed 7th and I competed at the CAL May 29th 2010 I took 8th.
Eddie: I have seen photos of the other competitors at the CAL and in my opinion you should have placed at least in the the top three. Where and when is your next NPC Bikini competition?
Bee: I am looking to compete again but not sure exactly what shows at the moment. I might do LA's and USA, but we will see.
Eddie: Describe the feeling of stepping on the stage for your first competition?
Bee: Exciting yet nerve wrecking. It’s a great feeling…adrenaline runs through your body. The tough part is your trying to control your body shaking, your hunger, tiredness, and you feel thirsty. Then you have to remember your poses and smile while you are being judged in a lil bikini.
Eddie: You looked great up on stage! When you first started training to lose weight and become healthier, was there times you wanted to cheat? If so what did you do to stop yourself from cheating and continue to stay on your path to achieve your goals?
Bee: Of course there were many times. I think my body was going through withdraws. I stayed on path thanks to the wonderful supportive people in my life.
Eddie: How important are supplements in your nutrition and fitness program and which supplements do you use year round?
Bee: Supplements are very important to my fitness/nutrition program. I use Gold Standard Whey, multivitamin, BCAA, CLA, B- complex, and glutamine year round.
Eddie: Good line up of supplements. So Bee, are you married? Can you tell us about your family?
Bee: I am currently engaged.
I come from a family of 10. Yep there are 10 of us…well including my parents. They had 8 children: 4 boys and 4 girls. I’m the 5th child.
Eddie: Sorry fellas she is taken! Wow you sure do have a lot of support. What do you like to do to relax? You know when it is "Bee Time".
Bee: Funny you say “Bee time” cause I say that..lol…I like watching movies, going to the beach, the park, anything out doors really and I love listening to music it relaxes me or simply spending quality time with my fiance and my family.
Eddie: That's right it's "BEE TIME"..lol We all have those days where our motivational levels are not as high as we wished they would be. On days like this what do you do to still have optimal workouts?
Bee: That is tough because there are a lot of days like that. My motivation level may be low but I know if I don’t go workout I don’t feel great and I love feeling great. Plus I know once I’m actually at the gym I’m going to have the best workout yet.
Eddie: Would you like to give a shout out to anyone?
Bee: YES!! To Steve (my fiancé) thank you for putting up with me when I’m dieting. Kelly Craven, Gina Aliotti for pushing me to start training harder; Michele D’Angona and Team Bikini Sass: for being a great support system, and of course my family and friends.
Eddie: Any exciting plans for the future you would like to share with our readers?
Bee: I’ll keep you posted :)
Eddie: Thank you Bee for spending some time with us today. God bless you in all your future goals. Tell your Father we said hello and we are all thinking of him.
Bee: Thank you so much Eddie and Muscle-4life-Nutrition.com for featuring me and having this great interview and I hope to chat again really soon.
